1. Who we are and what you accept
The Steve Academy is a service for practising English. The site is thesteveacademy.com. It is operated by CleanXpress SG LLC, a limited liability company formed in Florida, United States, with its seat in Homestead, Florida. In these terms, “we” is CleanXpress SG LLC and “you” is the person who uses the service.
By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms and the Privacy policy. We store the date and time of your acceptance. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use the service for someone else (for example, a parent or guardian registering a minor), you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for that person.
2. The service
We offer lessons, exercises, a placement test, role-play and chat rooms for practising English, with support in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Simplified Chinese. The placement test is free; the whole course (every unit and every level) is Premium and starts with a 7-day free trial with a card. The current price of each plan is shown in the app before you pay.
We do not offer live classes with a teacher or personal tutoring, unless we say so expressly. The service is a practice tool and does not replace an official course.
3. Age and eligibility
- Minimum age: 13. We do not allow people under 13 to register. If we discover an account of a person under 13, we delete it together with its data. There is no parent or guardian consent path for that age.
- If you are under 16 (from 13 to 15): a parent or guardian must consent. When you register we ask for their email and send them a message in the account language, with a link to confirm. Until they confirm, the account stays inactive: no lessons, no rooms, no public profile, and we collect no further data. If nobody confirms, we delete that signup after 7 days.
- 16 or older: the account is created as usual. In some countries the age of digital consent differs; the service uses 16 as the age for parental consent.
- Under 18: a parent or another adult must buy Premium, and checkout includes that adult’s confirmation checkbox.
- Birth data: we ask only for the month and year, never the day. Older accounts without those data are asked once, at the next sign-in.
- Capacity: by using the service you state that you can accept these terms under the law of your country, and that no law forbids you from receiving the service.
4. Your account
- You choose a username, give your name and email, and create a password. The information you give must be true and kept up to date.
- Each account is personal: do not share it, sell it or transfer it, and do not create several accounts to avoid a suspension or the one-free-trial-per-person rule.
- You are responsible for your password and for everything that happens with your account. If you think someone signed in without permission, tell us at once at support@thesteveacademy.com.
- You can delete your account at any time from My account or by writing to us. When you delete it we erase your data as the Privacy policy explains. If a Stripe subscription is active and payments are on, we cancel it immediately before the account is deleted. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription made through an app store; you must cancel it in that store.
5. Placement, progress and certificates
- The placement test is a guide inside the app. Its result shows the level we recommend you start from; it is not an official certificate and it is not TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge or any external exam. It can contain errors.
- If you take it, you start at the resulting level, and to enter the course you pick a plan and start the 7-day free trial with a card (every unit is Premium). If you prefer, you can start at level 1 without the test.
- The levels (A1 to C2) follow the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) as a guide. We are not an institution accredited by the CEFR.
- Finishing the course is not an official, accredited or guaranteed qualification. If we issue a certificate of completion, The Steve Academy issues it and it is not an official accreditation.
- We do not guarantee any particular learning result, grade, job or admission to a programme.
- Your writing and the oral exam are corrected and graded by an artificial intelligence (Google Gemini). The text you write, or in the oral exam the text of what you say, is sent to that AI. A person does not review it and it can make mistakes. In the oral exam the audio is never sent or stored; the transcript is kept for 12 months. More detail in the Privacy policy.
6. Educational content
Some content covers vocabulary and situations in professional areas, such as health, law, aviation, business or technology. It is material for learning English. It is not medical, legal, financial, technical or safety advice, it does not qualify you to practise a profession, and it does not replace a qualified professional or the official standards of your field. In particular, do not use aviation content for real operational communications or health content for decisions about a person’s care. The examples, dialogues and characters are fictional. We try to keep the content correct, but it can contain errors or become out of date; if you find one, tell us.
7. Intellectual property
- Ours. The service and all of its content (lessons, exercises, audio, the test and question bank, texts, translations, design, code, name and logo) belong to CleanXpress SG LLC or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. “The Steve Academy” and its logo are trademarks of CleanXpress SG LLC.
- Your licence. We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the service for your own non-commercial learning.
- What you may not do. Copy, redistribute, sell, publish, bulk-record or adapt the content; download the test or its questions to spread them; extract data in bulk or by automation; use the content to train artificial-intelligence systems; decompile the app; or remove proprietary notices.
- Comments and suggestions. If you send us ideas or corrections, we may use them with no duty to pay or to credit you.
8. What you post
- You can write in chat, in rooms and on your profile. You are responsible for what you post.
- You keep the rights in your text. You give us a licence to host it, show it to the people it is meant for, and moderate it, while the account exists and the message stays posted.
- Do not post another person’s personal data, or content you have no right to share.
- We may remove a message that breaks these terms or the law.
- Role-play characters are fictional. The text you type, or the text your browser recognised, may be sent to Google Gemini to draft the character’s reply. That exercise is not contact with another person.
- In a voice room the audio goes live between the people in the room. We do not store a recording of that call.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use the service for harassment, hate, spam, deception, illegal content, sexual content that involves minors, or to impersonate another person. Do not try to break the service, extract data in bulk or by automation, or create several accounts to avoid a suspension or to abuse an offer. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules.
10. Protection of minors
- A person under 18 does not appear in rooms or leaderboards with people they do not know, and we do not show their chat with strangers.
- Role-play uses safety filters. For a person under 16, those filters are stricter. The characters are fictional and that exercise is not contact with other people.
- A parent or guardian can email support@thesteveacademy.com and ask us to review or delete a minor’s data.
11. Premium and payments
- When payments are on, Stripe charges the card. We do not store the card number. The current price of each plan is shown in the app before you pay.
- The subscription renews until you cancel it, on the Premium page or in the Stripe billing portal. To avoid a charge, cancel before the renewal date you see in the app and in the notice email.
- To enter the course you need to start the free trial or have Premium: after the placement test, or if you choose to start from zero, you pick a plan and enter a card. There is no longer a free unit without a card. 7-day free trial: you choose the monthly plan ($12.99 a month), the 6-month plan ($59.99 every 6 months) or the yearly plan ($99.99 a year) and enter a card, but nothing is charged today. Before you enter the card you see the price, the date of the first charge and how to cancel, and you tick a box to accept it. If you do not cancel before the 7 days end, the first period of the plan you chose is charged that day, and after that it renews on its own every month, every 6 months or every year, depending on your plan, at the same price, until you cancel. We email you 2 days before the first charge, with a link to cancel. If you cancel during the trial, you are never charged and you keep Premium until the 7 days end. If there is no valid card when the trial ends, the subscription is cancelled with no charge. One trial per person.
- If we change the price, we will email you at least 30 days before a renewal at the new price. It does not change the period you already paid.
- Refunds, the right of withdrawal and chargebacks are explained in the Refunds policy. If you are under 18, checkout asks for a checkbox so an adult can confirm. It does not yet ask for a separate immediate-access checkbox; until it does, using the service does not by itself reduce that right.
- Premium that an administrator turns on, and free days from a coupon, are not a purchase and create no charge.
- Today you cannot buy Premium inside the App Store or Google Play. If that becomes possible later, that store charges you and you cancel there.
- If we remove an essential part of Premium, we refund the unused proportional part, as the refunds policy says.
12. Availability
We try to keep the service available. We may pause it for maintenance or for changes. We do not promise uninterrupted access. Content can change: we may add, modify or remove parts of the course.
13. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, the law, or the safety of other people. We try to tell you the reason, unless the law or safety says otherwise. You can email support@thesteveacademy.com.
14. Privacy
The Privacy policy explains what personal information the service handles and is part of these terms.
15. Warranties and limit
- To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as it is. We do not guarantee a particular learning result, grade, job or admission.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability for a claim about the service is limited to 100 USD or to what you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss.
- Nothing here limits liability that the law does not let us limit, including fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, or the rights you have as a consumer.
16. Indemnity
If your use, your content or a breach by you leads to a claim against us, you will cover that loss to the extent the law allows. This does not apply where the fault is ours, and it does not limit your rights as a consumer.
17. Law and claims
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States. That choice does not take away the mandatory consumer protections of your country.
- The state or federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, may hear a dispute. If you are a consumer, you may also use the courts that your country’s law requires.
- Before you file a claim, write to us. We will try in good faith to resolve it for 30 days.
- Where the law allows, a claim about the service must be brought within one year of the event.
- If you are a consumer in the European Union, the mandatory rules of your country still apply. You may use the out-of-court bodies your country names.
18. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top is the date of the current version. If the change is important, we will email you at least 30 days in advance. It does not affect what you already paid for the current period. If you do not agree, you can cancel and delete the account before the change applies. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply.
19. Languages
These terms are in Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, German and Simplified Chinese. If the versions differ, the Spanish version prevails.
20. General
- If one clause cannot be applied, the rest stays in force.
- If we do not insist on a right once, we do not give it up.
- These terms, the Privacy policy and the Refunds policy are the whole agreement about the service.
- You may not transfer your account or these terms. We may transfer them to someone who continues the service, and we will tell you.
- The headings are only a guide.
